5. Three ways to set Retail price

There are three ways to set Retail price:

  • Margin. After you enter Margin %, Markup will be calculated according to the Margin. Any time the wholesale price changes, the retail price will be recalculated to preserve these Markup and Margin.

  • Markup from Wholesale. After you enter Markup % from Wholesale Price, Retail Margin and Retail Price will be re-calculated according to Markup. Any time the wholesale price changes, retail price will be recalculated to preserve these Markup and Margin.

  • Absolute value of Retail Price. After you enter absolute value of Price, Retail Margin and Markup will be re-calculated according to this value. Please note: When setting the retail price as an absolute value, margin and markup will be automatically recalculated whenever the wholesale price changes. To maintain consistent margin, we recommend setting retail prices using SET/MODIFY MARKUP or SET/MODIFY MARGIN functions.

6. Calculating Markup for specific Margin

Currently, DT Shop functions using a Markup concept. This step outlines the process if you would rather establish a specific Margin instead.

Markup is the percentage added to the cost price to determine the selling price. While Margin is the percentage of the selling price that represents profit.

Converting between the two can be done using the formula:

Margin (%) = ((Selling Price - Cost Price) / Selling Price) \* 100

To convert margin to markup, you need to use the following formula:

Markup (%) = (Margin / (100 - Margin)) \* 100

Suppose you have a product with a margin of 30%. You want to calculate the corresponding markup for a 30% Margin

First, convert the margin to a decimal: Margin Decimal = Margin / 100 = 0.30

Now, use the formula to calculate the markup:

Markup (%) = (0.30 / (1 - 0.30)) \* 100 ≈ 42.86%

So, a margin of 30% corresponds to a markup of approximately 42.86%
